ATS SPECIALIZED AND LOGISTICS JOIN FORCES TO SUPPORT WIND FARM PROJECT
ATS Specialized and ATS Logistics Services pool their resources to secure a 33-tower wind farm project in Providence, IL for NEG Micon / Vestas.
The 33-tower wind farm consists of over 350 over-dimensional truckloads moving in an 8 week time period. Through the joint effort of ATS Logistics and ATS Specialized we have been able to provide our customer turnkey service on the project.
The components are coming from a number of different shippers including two locations in Canada and the Ports of Beaumont and Houston. ATS has been involved in the project from initial site inspection all the way to final delivery of the components to tower pad. ATS has had personnel at the site in Illinois as well as at the ports in Texas through the duration of the project.
“The most challenging part of a project like this is the coordination of the trucks needed to service the project in this time frame considering the many obstacles that arise. Things like weather, holidays, permits, OD travel restrictions, site conditions are just a few of the things ATS has worked through on the project”, said Paul Killmer, Operations Manager for ATS Logistics Services.
“A large factor to the success of this project is the investment in new equipment by ATS Specialized to specifically service the Wind Energy Industry”, Paul added.
With the recently approved Production Tax Credit (PTC) that is being offered to construct wind farms in the United States, 2005 is looking to be a very busy year. With the successful completion of this project in late December 2004, ATS Specialized and ATS Logistics Services are very excited and poised to continue servicing this sector of the transportation industry.
