New Equipment Planned for 2003
Anderson Trucking Service is recognized in the transportation industry for its innovative and up-to-date tractor and trailer equipment. This commitment continues into 2003, with the recent announcement of planned tractor and trailer purchases for the upcoming year.
Trailer Equipment
Vans will be buying fifty new dry vans, replacing fifty old vans. Twenty-five will be received in March with the remaining twenty-five arriving sometime in the third quarter. Vans will also be buying five reefers from Wabash.
Specialized has not yet finalized the full quantity of trailers that will be purchased, but they will be buying a minimum of twenty-five 53'sliding axle flats, twenty-five 53' step decks, fifteen 2 axle RGN expandables and ten 2 axle RGN mini-decks which have a deck height 15 inches off of the ground. Additional orders may be placed as the year progresses.
Tractors
Overall, ATS will be buying 200 Freightliners. All but 5 will have Detroit 14 liter engines. The transmissions will be Eaton in all trucks. There will be 10 Speeds in the Columbia’s and 9 speeds in the Classic XL's. The majority of the trucks will be Columbias. All will have Bridgestone tires. 90 tractors will be for vans and 110 for flats.
The gravel fleet will be expanding and will be buying 5 tractors with Mercedes Benz engines, 3 new end dumps and 2 new side dumps.
