| Driver Questions from Driver Appreciation Days Answered |
1) Additional 20A power outlets in trucks. At a minimum upgrade the current 15A to 20A?
- It’s a non data book option, but we could get additional 12 volt dc outlets in cab at time of order. Minimal upgrade. We'll review for 2003 deliveries. I’ll request non data book pricing. |
2) Another carrier, as part of the Qcomm bracket, has a piece of metal shield installed that would allow branches, etc. to slide over top of the unit eliminating some dome damage.
- Qualcomm has not endorsed this concept regardless of shield component wood, fiberglass, aluminum or steel. Whether its rods arched over the top or complete cover of the dome, they are convinced it will obstruct transmissions. Today Q/C offers a large plastic dome that current IMCT dome would fit in, although hail or tree branch may break thru both domes. At the shop we discussed creating some steel or aluminum rod(s) that would guide tree branch over the top. They would only be 0.5” diameter so it may not obstruct transmissions. That would not help against hail. |
3) 2 or 3 Van Drivers stated they couldn’t get trailer washed because the Blue Beacon computer stated that trailers weren’t authorized to be washed.
- No confusion between the two accounts at Blue Beacon. They have corrected their software glitch to accept our INC trailer numbers again. |
4) Suggestion was made, that on Condos can we order a high bunk vent and bunk fan be installed to reduce idle time.
- At this time our raised roof units have a vent windows, high, on the left and right side. At this time we do not have low or high bunk fans. I am confident that Freightliner will build a tractor with bunk fan(s). The upper bunk placement may be a non-data book option (liftable upper bunk movement may complicate its placement). We will review for 2003 deliveries.
Additional questions are being researched and will be answered in upcoming editions of The Herald.(500) |
