Specialized Trailer Update
For ATS Specialized, having the right type of trailer at the right place at the right time is a major part of how we serve our customers. About two years ago, a program was started that would limit the types of trailers we own, while making each trailer type more of a multipurpose trailer. Empty weights on these trailers are as light as possible while maintaining maximum strength and load capacity. A single design was chosen for flatbeds. All Flatbeds that have been ordered since that time are of that specification. Likewise a specific design for Single Drops was adopted. A multipurpose, mechanical RGN was designed for our heavy haul fleet that could serve as both an RGN and a Double Drop.

Flatbeds are Fontaines and Transcrafts. All Flatbeds have aluminum decks with nail strips. Empty weight is in the area of 10,000 lbs. with a load capacity at 65,000 lbs. in 4 feet of space.

New Step Decks have been ordered from Transcraft. Their overall length is 49 feet. The 40' bottom deck is aluminum with nail strips. The drop is 36 inches when empty. Empty weight is 10,200 lbs. with a load capacity of 55,000 lbs. in 4 feet of space.

The new Heavy Haul RGN is a 10 axle RGN with jeep designed by Trail King. Fully utilized, this piece of equipment will legally allow overall weight of 195,270 lbs. with 144,000 lbs. of payload.
