It is with deep sorrow that we at ATS let you know that Virgil L. Sabby died Friday April 19, 2002, at the Myrtle-Werth Hospital- Mayo Health System, in Menomonie, WI. He was 44.

Virgil Sabby was a quiet, gentle man, and will be missed at ATS. Virgil had been with ATS for 24 years as both a driver and a fleet manager. He had a practical kind of knowledge about hauling freight that isn't found in many people. He knew what it took to get the job done. When it came to hauling over-sized freight he was the best, and everyone knew it. Because of his knowledge and his approachable manner, he was very well respected, and became a resource on O.D. loads. Whether it was how to place a piece on the trailer, what to do about permits or how to run equipment, people would go to Virgil with their questions and needs. His hands-on practical approach would either give them the answer if he knew it, or work with them to figure out what the answer should be. When designing new specialized trailers, I would always seek Virgil's input to make sure we were on the right track. Everyone could count on Virgil to help them..

Virgil's unexpected death caught all of us off guard. He had recently decided to go back on the road and we were looking forward to having his expertise on the road again. The number of people who held Virgil close in their hearts was very apparent at the funeral. Many friends and relatives spoke of him and their high regard for him. He loved trucking and he loved John Deere tractors. Many fond stories were told about his enjoyment of these interests.

Virgil will be in the hearts and prayers of many ATS personnel.

With Fond Memories,
Rollie Anderson, Executive Vice President Anderson Trucking Service, Inc.
