The death of Harold Anderson on November 28 came as a shock to everyone at ATS. Harold, 85, had been in the office on Wednesday, November 21, and celebrated Thanksgiving with his family the following day.
Staff members of ATS, St. Cloud Truck Sales and Midwest Canvas were provided several opportunities to mourn his passing, and pay tribute to Harold. Two prayer services were held in the main training room on Friday, November 30. Harold’s youngest son, Pastor James Anderson officiated at these services. Pastor Jim eulogized his father, recalling that "big smile that warmed so many rooms and hearts". He related to those attending his understanding of what he called Harold’s "simple faith". "Dad had a simple faith. He kept it that way because his life was literally where the rubber meets the road."
Later that afternoon, a two-hour visitation time was set aside for employees only. Rollie Anderson put it this way, "Along with his faith and his family, Dad’s corporate family was very important to him. As a family we want to be sure that all employees that wish to make a visitation are able to do so with their fellow workers. Dad would have wanted it that way."
Funeral services were for Harold Anderson were held at Calvary Baptist Church in St. Cloud, Minnesota, on Saturday, December 1. Pastor Mark Friday officiated. In his homily, Pastor Mark talked of the legacy that Harold left behind. "It was important for Harold to leave a legacy to others. He wasn’t content to make himself happier. He was always looking to pass something along to others. His work was important to him. He knew God expected those who had been given much to give much back. He used his talents for the good of everyone." Pastor Mark concluded with the following observations. "You are all here because somehow Harold touched your life. It would be his hope that you would let your life be touched with his death. For us who have trusted Christ, it is not ‘goodbye’, but rather, ‘see you later, Harold’. I would hope that for you who, are a friend, relative or cohort in business, it would also not be ‘goodbye’, but because you have put your trust in Jesus Christ, it is just ‘see you later, Harold’."
