Put on your Recruiting Hat!!

One of the keys to success for Anderson Trucking Service is its diverse business interests. ATS has the ability to penetrate different markets through the various operating divisions-flatbeds, vans, logistics and intermodal.

Within the asset based companies, the mixture of company owned equipment and contracted units (owner operators) has always been a strong selling point to both drivers and customers. The strong, stable market presence of ATS equipment, operated by professional drivers, will always be important to the company. Likewise, the ability to expand our fleet sizes with the addition of owner operators is extremely important as we gain new customers and opportunities.

Several factors make owner operators an attractive cornerstone to future growth. Foremost is that they are truly "business partners" who tie their success in with ATS. Their ability to efficiently manage their equipment and interface with our marketing, operations and administration means success for all parties. More operators does NOT mean more internal competition for "good freight". It means increased opportunities for everyone through market density. We believe ATS is a great place to be - whether you drive a company truck or operate your own rig.

Historically, the most efficient recruiting tool has been the good word of our current drivers and contractors. They are also some of the best "screeners" to ensure that we talk to the best qualified candidates. We want men and women who will represent ATS in a positive manner with customers, law enforcement and the motoring public.

We appreciate the efforts made to recruit owner operators and pay a $1000 bonus to individuals who bring on a new contractor for ATS. This may be the result of a chance encounter with a prospect or a concentrated effort to recruit contractors (and earn bonus $$ !) from our current driving force. We have printed material available for those individuals interested in keeping some on hand to assist in the process. We'd like to see more folks putting on their "recruiting hat" and taking advantage of a win-win situation. For more details, talk to your Fleet Manager or Operations Manager.

Thanks for Looking out for US!

"I wish to extend my grateful thank you to one of your drivers for demonstrating his concern for the safety of bicyclists. He was driving West on Papermill Road just outside of Taylor, Arizona when he came upon me on my bike. It's a 2-lane macadam road with a posted speed limit of 55 MPH. Your driver, seeing a car approaching from the opposite direction, slowed to nearly a stop (12 MPH)and waited for the oncoming car to clear and then pulled all the way over into the other lane in order not to get close to me. This happened on or about the 13th of August at about 7:00 AM.

I obviously don't know who the driver is, but I sure would like to thank him for his courtesy. Maybe you could just pass along to all your drivers how much the bicyclers appreciate and depend upon this thoughtfulness for our safety. " Thanks so much Jim Murphy.
