Bill Wang Helps Team Minnesota Take USA Championship
On September 27, 2002, Heavy Haul driver Bill Wang competed in the USA National Truck Driving Competition in Tampa, FL. Drivers from all across the country participated in this 4 day event consisting of written exams, pre-trip inspection, and a driving competition. Bill did an excellent job and came in second in the 5-axle sleeper berth class. On top of winning second, the drivers participating from MN took Team Championship. This is awarded to the team who has earned the most overall points during the competition. Bill said the competition was tough and he really enjoyed the challenge.
Bill has competed for several years in the MTA State Driving championships and has advanced to the Nationals two years in a row. He will be sidelined this coming year and we will be drawing from his experience and knowledge to guide our drivers through the next State Driving Championship and hopefully onto the Nationals. Bill, or Duck as many know him, has accomplished a lot in the last year in driving competition. He was lst place in his division in 2001 and took the Grand Champion that same year also. He was also named SCRA Driver of the Year in 2002 and now 2nd place in a national competition. He states that every time he competes he learns something new to make him a better driver and competing is the best way to improve your driving skills which also improves the image of the trucking industry. Congratulations Bill for a job well done.
