The Millennium Begins and an Era Ends:
Moving into the new millennium, ATS celebrated 45 years of incorporation and continued expansion into new markets. ATS continued its emphasis on quality of services, by purchasing SunBelt Furniture Xpress in 2001, which expanded services to include interstate truck transportation of new and specialized furniture.
November 27, 2001 – Harold Anderson passed away at age 85.
At his funeral, Harold was eulogized by the presiding Pastor, “It was important for Harold to leave a legacy to others. He wasn’t content to make himself happier. He was always looking to pass something along to others. His work was important to him. He knew God expected those who had been given much, to give much back. He used his talents for the good of everyone.”
The Millennium and Beyond:
ATS’ commitment to new technologies, led to the formation of ATS Wind Energy Services in 2003. This operating group was part of ATS Specialized Inc. Within the decade they became the industry leader in wind energy transportation.
ATS purchased Brewton Express in 2003. A subsidiary of ATS Specialized, concentrated with hauling construction equipment and communication shelter buildings.
2005 brought about our 50th Anniversary and also on April 22, ATS broke ground for its new corporate headquarters located along the I-94 corridor in Minnesota.
By the winter of 2006, all of Anderson Trucking Service, Inc. moved from its original location on Cooper Avenue to be under one roof in the new corporate headquarters.
2006 was a year of growth for ATS. The international business had grown well beyond Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. To better reflect our expanding global services, ICE developed into ATS International.
2007 saw ATS expand again as we acquired Midwest Specialized of Rochester, MN. During this time ATS also purchased it’s first 19 axle trailer. This acquisition strengthened ATS’ position as the premier specialized and heavy haul transportation company in North America.
2008 saw the rapid growth of ATS Logistics Services, Inc. and the completion of providing Wi-Fi at terminal locations. ATS revenues exceeded $880 million. ATS developed its Mission, Vision and Values. These principles are in place to guide ATS moving forward.
